Poverty Simulation October 18, 2018

Open to all adults and high schoolers who are interested in getting a small taste of what it's like to live in poverty.

Poverty is a reality for many individuals and families.  But unless you've experienced poverty, it's difficult to truly understand.  The Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS) bridges that gap from misconception to understanding.  CAPS is an interactive immersion experience.  it sensitizes community participants to the realities of poverty.  CAPS is not a game.  It is based on real Community Action clients and their lives.

In the simulation, participants assume the roles of different families facing poverty.  The task of the "families" is to provide for basic necessities and shelter during the course of four 15-minute "weeks".

Limited to 88 participants.  Pre-registration is required.  Supper 5:30-6pm and ends between 8 and 8:30pm. Childcare is NOT available.
